Videotaped operations can and will be used as evidence to prosecute those individuals who violate the law. For Recovery agencies, the worst possible scenario is the vehicles have been sabotaged by irate debtors that often claim the Professional Recovery Agency damaged the vehicle during the recovery process, costing both time and money for fraudulent insurance claims. Each night, all over the world, vehicles are disappearing like magic. Slipping into the darkness without so much as a break in the silence of the evening, the vehicles are stolen yet the debtors file "breach of peace" charges against your agency. The M.R.A.S.P is your first line of defense from those false allegations and has been endorsed by the National Association of Fraud Investigators. Buses: Mobile VCRs are also commonly used in city or school bus surveillance (WARNING- certain patents restrict non-licensees from installing recording systems in buses). Normally, the camera, microphone, and VCR are placed in a single enclosure mounted on the ceiling of the bus. The VCR may also be placed under or near the driver's seat. Automatic recording when the ignition is turned on is popular. Additional RM-322 or user mode control heads allow the driver to initiate the recording manually. Since the cameras in these installations are looking at the passengers and the light source is more constant, electronic iris cameras can be used, but for quality performance auto iris lenses are preferred. Police Vehicles: Mobile VCRs are designed to mount in police cars under the seats, behind the seats, or in the trunk (WARNING - certain patents restrict non-licensees from installing VCRs in vaults or in the trunks of police vehicles). These VCRs are usually controlled by the RM-322, user mode control head, or by using a circuit board such as the FR-9 board within the user mode control head. The lockbox has a cut out for a wireless microphone (such as Shure) for remote audio surveillance. The wireless transmitter is worn on the officer's lapel so that all conversations are recorded. The miniature B&W or Color camera is usually mounted on the dash or from the ceiling of the vehicle. Zoom auto-iris lens are most frequently used, but almost any lens configuration will work. Since the cameras are used outside during day and night, electronic iris lenses are not recommended; mechanical auto iris cameras or lenses should be used. The trigger input of the VCR is normally connected to the lights or siren, and the VCR can be programmed to continue recording for several minutes after the siren (or lights) is turned off. This allows automatic recording of pursuits or side of the road interviews.
